Pakistan’s Misconception about India and the Truth

The Pakistanis have a big misconception about India. They feel India is just like Pakistan, and the Indian people are like them. For the last seven decades, they have been fed with lies, hatred, and negative propaganda about India by their media—newspapers, radio, and television. But with the advent of social media, things are different. Firstly, India is very different from Pakistan, though at a glance it may seem so.........

Pakistanis have opinions on everything happening around the world, though nobody even bothers about their opinion. Take Trump’s election victory or banning of burka and hijab in Switzerland or why India should play Champions Trophy in Pakistan. But shy away talking about the conditions in their country, price rises, shortages of food items, crime, and terrorist activity. The best part is most Pakistanis are not even aware of all this. Though no Islamic country reacts, Pakistan has to react to everything. They claim ISI and the Pakistani army are number one, but whatever happens there, they quickly blame it on India. They feel India is Pak-centric without realizing it; Indians don’t care about Pak; Indians react only when there's a terrorist attack.

The Pakistanis have a big misconception about India. They feel India is just like Pakistan, and the Indian people are like them. For the last seven decades, they have been fed with lies, hatred, and negative propaganda about India by their media—newspapers, radio, and television. But with the advent of social media, things are different. Firstly, India is very different from Pakistan, though at a glance it may seem so. Similarly, Indians may look like Pakistanis, but they are totally different in dress, thought, food, and outlook on things, whether they are Hindus, Muslims, Parsis, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Jews, or others. They all feel they are Indians and proud to be Indians, whether in India or abroad.

India is more modern with the latest architecture, technology, education, communication, and transport. Indians are educated, progressive, and have a modern outlook on life. For Indians, to whatever religion he may belong, nation comes first and religion is a private matter. This has been in the social fabric of the nation. People here are enterprising and hardworking to make life better for themselves and their families in India or abroad. And this is reflected in the growth of the nation.

‘Hum Muslim hai. Hum Islami mulk hai. Hum Islami mulk ke leader hai. Pura duniya hamare bathe sunte hai. Hum atmi thakat hai, duniya hamse darthe hai. Hum pura duniya me raj karege. Hum me jazba hai, hum India ko hara denge. Hum Delhi me janda leherayenge. Duniya hum se jalti hai, hamre tharaki se jalte hai.’ These are the hollow claims made by the illiterate, madrasa-educated, and even educated Pakistani men and women. Ignorance is bliss! This is often heard when the Pakistani Youtubers talk to the man or women in the street.

‘Kane ko roti nahi, education me piche, science aur technology ka koi patha nahi. Chale duniya jitne, responds a sensible foreign-returned Pakistani. He adds, this exposes the knowledge of the locals who are victims of fake news fed by Pakistani media. Some literate and sensible Pakistanis question the two-nation theory and ask what we got from it—nothing but illiterate people with extremist viewpoints, poor economy, lack of education, poverty, borrowing for our survival, and the world laughing at us with slogans of get out Pakis in most countries. Only the army and politicians’ benefit.

Nowhere in any Muslim country around the world have I heard the people say, we are Muslim, we are an Islamic country. In Pakistan, at every step, Pakistanis say, we are Muslims; Pakistan is an Islamic country. It has been created on the basis of Kalma. Religion is mixed with everything in everyday life; on talking about this habit with an educated Pakistani in the Gulf during one of my visits, he said, I think the reason is because we are not original Muslims; we have been converted from Hindus, Sikhs, and Christians, so to reassure, the locals have to repeat it to prove themselves as genuine Muslims. And feel they are the true Muslims and leaders of the Muslim world, but no one in the Muslim world even cares. They keep proclaiming imaginary things as they are not exposed to the outer world.

The Pakistanis, right from school and college, have been taught that India is their enemy. Indians are evil, dirty, and not worth being friends with as they are Khafirs. The Pakistani media continuously feed the people such propaganda. The main reason people fall prey to this is a lack of education, madrassa teaching, and exposure to foreign media. They believe in what their media gives them. The majority of the people are illiterate. Even some of those educated have similar views, and their women are worse as their literacy level is low. They are not even aware of basic facts; for them, their country is the best. The country was created on the basis of religion. Since their exposure to the world, modern development, science, and technology is limited, they have a narrow perspective of things and are steeped in double standards.

durex        mamaearth        Axis Bank

Though they hate India, while in foreign countries they coolly identify themselves as Indians to avoid suspicion and stern looks from locals and foreigners who look down upon them. Many of them are involved in petty and serious crimes like assault, robbery, financial scams, and molestation in foreign countries. Some even end up begging in Muslim countries, where they are picked and deported back. Pakistan’s credibility is at an all-time low. Nobody wants them. There are reports of a get-out Pakistanis campaign going on in many European countries. UAE has stopped issuing visas for Pakistanis.

When pointed out that their belief is that all non-Muslims are Khafirs and shouldn’t interact with them, then why do they take help and loans from China, America, or other non-Muslim countries and hate India? They have no answer, and their replies expose their lack of education. Similarly, when they consider non-Muslim Khafirs, why do they try to enter European countries and not Muslim countries? Again, they have no answer. They love to play the victim card as they feel they are targeted in other countries. Many European countries allowed Muslims to enter and settle in their countries as they were in need of cheap labor. There numbers increased as many entered as refugees. Soon these countries realized their folly. The emigrants demanded the imposing of Shariya law and Muslim way of life in dress, food, and praying in these countries.

And the Pakistanis funny claim that their country is Islamic but the European countries are secular, so they should allow Pakistanis to practice their religion, should be allowed to wear burka and hijab and have Shariya law there, forgetting that they are in a foreign country for better prospects and should follow the law of the land, and can be deported back. This has started to happen in some countries.

If in any country, if any law is passed keeping the country’s interest in mind, like a ban on hijab or burkha, no Muslim country has any issue, but Pakistani media jumps in trying to make an issue of it. Pakistan criticizes the West but still wishes to go there; it stinks of double standards. Once there, create trouble, protest, or try to impose Islamic thought, dress, and Shariya law. No wonder they are being driven out of many countries and told to follow the country’s law and customs or simply get out.

Recently, you have seen action being taken with Get Out Pakistanis, getting louder in the UK, Germany, France, Greece, and other European countries, including Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, and even Japan. Nobody wants them. They are considered troublemakers and fanatics. Recently, a Pakistani girl claimed to be Donald Trump’s daughter. Either she’s mentally ill or very smart doing it to get famous or make her video viral to earn some dollars.

Pakistanis are fed with lies. They believe the Pakistanis have won all the wars with India, which according to them, India started and attacked them as cowards in the night in 1948, 1965, 1971, and the Kargil war. On learning the truth, Pakistan lost all the wars, and in the 1971 war, 93,000 Pak army surrendered to the Indian army, and Bangladesh was created; and in the Kargil war, the Pak army refused to take the dead bodies of their soldiers and ran away. They refuse to believe, saying it’s all lies from Indian media. They proclaim they are brave and destined to rule India and the world. They believe that Pakistan is a country gifted with everything. And India and the world are jealous. Though they are existing on aid and loans from China and the IMF, they believe Pakistan is a wealthy country. Such is their mindset.

Ajio        Wow        goibibo

They are told Pakistan is a great country and the leader of the Muslim world, though nobody cares for them. They are told Pakistan is a rich country with a lot of wealth. The young and educated Pakistanis are confused; then why is Pakistan begging for aid and loans from around the world, especially from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, China, and others? Most of these countries have refused to lend them money. Even the IMF has cautioned them. Prices are rising in every sphere with shortages of essential items. And the man on the street and even the educated class talk of Gazwa-i-Hind without realizing 93,000 soldiers of the Pakistan army surrendered to the Indian army.

Pakistanis who visited India say India is over 50 years ahead of Pakistan. Sajid Tarar, an American-based Pakistani political analyst who recently visited India, said, I thought India was 50 years ahead of Pakistan. But the fact is they are 100 years ahead of Pakistan in almost all fields. Their cities are modern and clean with the latest communication and transport systems, and in some areas, even better than the US. Pakistanis are shocked and refuse to believe it and can't digest India’s development, power, and influence in the world.

The social media in Pakistan, especially the YouTube channels, have exposed Pakistanis fully; lack of general knowledge, lack of education, lack of technology, and lack of etiquette are clearly visible. Though they see videos of the development and the cities in India, they find it hard to believe that India has gone far ahead and reached the Moon and Mars. And India manufactures items ranging from food products, agricultural machines, automobiles to fighter aircraft, submarines, aircraft- carriers, defense equipment, and a wide variety of arms and ammunition, which India exports to foreign countries. Looking at people giving their views on social media, it looks Pakistan won't change in another seventy years. Lack of education, modern outlook, exposure to the world, poor leadership, mixing religion in everything, extremist thinking, and double- standards are some of the main causes of Pakistan’s downfall. It will take decades for Pakistan to change its mindset under an effective progressive leader.

Urban makeover

People of my generation will identify with this. Many traditional middle-class homes underwent an urban makeover in the mid-2000s, which meant giving away some old things bought with love from meager savings after a great deal of searching and bargaining, and some items even brought from your native place to remind you and keep in touch with your roots. Suddenly a time comes when this looks outlandish and old-fashioned. And one has to change with the times.

Over time, thinking and things have drastically changed. In the kitchen, the steel dabbas made way for airtight, attractive glass jars and Tupperware bowls, and steel plates were restricted to family meals only. The heavy utility Godrej steel cupboards bought earlier with pride were junked for being bulky. In its place came the designer, delicate modern-style plywood wardrobes and cupboards. In place of teak wood furniture, you have plush and bulky sofas. The old sturdy ceiling fans gave way to sleek, light, colored fans. The same goes for the light fittings and chandeliers in the hall, which were replaced by fancy designer fittings with limited life. The old refrigerator was replaced with a fridge with additional features. The window air conditioner was replaced by a split air conditioner with two units, one outdoor and one indoor.

Even the otherwise dhoti-wearing grandfather had a makeover; he slipped onto shorts, Bermuda and a T-shirt with fancy lines and pictures and slippers at home. Dads moved around with jeans and t-shirts. Moms too shifted from salwar to trousers and palazzos with designer tops. Old sturdy cars were replaced with sleek, modern brands with multiple features.

But despite these changes, the mind stayed put, reminding one of the old traditions where stress was on tradition, comfort, and utility. But now overtaken by trend and style, look and modernity, one has to do with some discomfort. Earlier on coming back, one got a natural feel of comfort and coziness at home, but now feels more like a hotel room. Times have changed, and if you don’t change with time, you are accused of being stagnant and not progressive!

The present generation must not be knowing much about the liberation of Goa on December 1961. After numerous talks, discussions, and diplomacy with the Portuguese government and facing international pressure, the Indian government under Nehru decided to act. The Indian government ordered a military operation. The army was sent in to neutralize the Portuguese army. In a swift action, the Indian army took over the territory, and the Portuguese army surrendered as they knew they were no match to the well-equipped Indian army. There were few causalities on both sides. Though there were some pockets of resistance, it was put down quickly. Indian troops captured Goa without much fight. But in the sea, a naval battle took place at Mormugoa harbor as a last-ditch effort to save face. This blog describes the action here and how the Indian forces took charge in defeating the Portuguese last fight.

The story of NRP Afonso de Albuquerque was the last hope for the Portuguese. NRP Afonso de Albuquerque was a warship of the Portuguese Navy, named after the 16th-century Portuguese navigator Afonso de Albuquerque. She was destroyed in combat on 18 December 1961 in Goa, defending Portuguese interests in Goa against the Indian armed forces during the liberation of Goa. With the defeat and destruction of this warship, Portuguese lost all hope of holding on for some days till reinforcements arrived from Portugal.

On the morning of 18 December 1961, the Portuguese ship NRP Afonso de Albuquerque was anchored off Mormugoa harbor. Besides engaging Indian naval units, the ship was also tasked with providing a coastal artillery battery to defend the harbor and adjoining beaches and providing vital radio communications with Lisbon after on-shore radio facilities had been destroyed in Indian airstrikes.

goibibo        SBI Card        Nykaa

At 09:00, three Indian frigates led by the INS Betwa (F139) took up position off the harbor, awaiting orders to attack the Afonso and secure sea access to the port. At 11:00, Indian planes bombed Mormugoa harbor. At 12:00, upon receiving clearance, the INS Betwa and the INS Beas (F137) entered the harbor and fired on the Afonso with their 4.5-inch guns while transmitting requests to surrender in morse code between shots. In response, the Afonso lifted anchor, headed out towards the enemy, and returned fire with its 120 mm guns.

The Afonso was outnumbered by the Indians and was at a severe disadvantage since it was in a confined position that restricted its maneuvering and because its four 120mm guns could fire only two rounds a minute, as compared to the 16 rounds per minute of the guns aboard the Indian frigates. A few minutes into the exchange of fire, at 12:15, the Afonso took a direct hit in its control tower, injuring its weapons officer. At 12:25, an anti-personnel shrapnel bomb fired from an Indian vessel exploded directly over the ship, killing its radio officer and severely injuring its commander, Captain António da Cunha Aragão, after which First Officer Pinto da Cruz took command of the vessel. The ship's propulsion system was also badly damaged in this attack.

At 12:35, the Afonso swerved 180 degrees and was run aground against Bambolim Beach. At that time, against the commander's orders, a white flag was hoisted under instructions from the sergeant in charge of signals, but the flag coiled itself around the mast and, as a result, was not spotted by the Indians, who continued their barrage. The flag was immediately lowered.

Eventually, at 12:50, after the Afonso had fired nearly 400 rounds at the Indians, hitting two of the Indian vessels, and had taken severe damage, the order was given to start abandoning ship. Under heavy fire directed at both the ship and the coast, non-essential crew, including weapons staff, left the ship and went ashore. They were followed at 13:10 by the rest of the crew, who, along with their injured commander, set fire to the ship and disembarked directly onto the beach. Following this, the commander was transferred by car to the hospital at Panaji. On the Indian side, as per reports, two frigates were hit, killing five sailors and injuring thirteen.

The ship's crew formally surrendered with the remaining Portuguese forces on 19 December 1961 at 20:30. As a gesture of goodwill, the commanders of the INS Betwa and the INS Beas later visited Captain Aragão as he lay recuperating in bed in Panaji.

The Afonso, having been renamed Saravastri by the Indian Navy, lay grounded at the beach near Dona Paula until 1962, when it was towed to Bombay and sold for scrap. Parts of the ship were recovered and are on display at the Naval Museum in Mumbai.

The Portuguese patrol boat NRP Sirius, under the command of Lieutenant Marques Silva, was also present at Goa. After observing Afonso running aground and not having communications from the Goa Naval Command, Lieutenant Marques Silva decided to scuttle the Sirius. This was done by damaging the propellers and making the boat hit the rocks. The eight men of the Sirius's crew avoided being captured by the Indian forces and boarded a Greek freighter on which they reached Pakistan.

The truth about the Indo-China agreement?

Axis Bank        Ajio        zouk

A tweet by Dr. Jaishankar on India-China agreement, back to 2020 position. What does it mean? Chinese had occupied the area since! And what we were told by the authorities, ministers, and ruling politicians is that no Chinese have come nor have they occupied Indian areas. They simply crossed and occupied Indian territory since 2020. It is believed 2,000 sq km of India-claimed territory was estimated to have been taken over by the Chinese since May 2020. And nobody from the government talked about it, nor the friendly media, though the opposition raised the issue and was vocal about it, so were some of the ex-officers and retired generals of the Indian forces. The authorities just ignored it

Responding to a question on the patrolling and disengagement agreement in the Depsang and Demchok areas in Eastern Ladakh and what can be expected from the future of India-China relations, the minister said, ‘From 2020, the situation at the border has been very disturbed, and that has, understandably, had a very negative impact on the overall relationship. Since September 2020, we have been negotiating with the Chinese on how to find a solution.’

Shyaway        TATA CLiQ        Dabur

He further added, ’The focus, for now, is disengagement, the minister said, stressing that while there had been understandings in some areas after 2020, blocking of patrolling remained an issue that was being negotiated for two years.

Dr. Subramanya Swami, a prominent BJP member and known critic of Mody and his policies, pointed it out in numerous interviews on the social media, and also stated, If the government wants to be transparent and clear all doubts of China occupying India areas after 2020, as claimed by Swamy, the opposition, and others, the government should place the copy of the agreement in Parliament and clear all doubts once and for all.

Three Stages of Life?

Three Stages of Life?

...............................................

Below: Anecdote on Kashmir!

................................................

When people are young, most of them are carefree or busy with their career or other activities. But as they grow old and reach the age of 50 years, reality dawns on them about old age. They remember their parents or uncles and aunts growing to be senior citizens and the changes they noticed in their physical and mental state. They now realize the same is going to happen to them.

I received this interesting post from a reader detailing the three stages of life after retirement. It makes interesting reading and is thought-provoking. I felt it was necessary to share this post with our readers, especially senior citizens. This is the stark reality of life, and one must accept it without any grudge. The author’s name is not mentioned.

To book an ad or an announcement on this blog. WhatsApp: 91 9969154602 Email: akn929@yahoo.com

Prepare yourself for these three stages of life:

First Camp: 58 to 65 years:

The workplace moves away from you. No matter how successful or powerful you become during your career, you will be called an ordinary person. So, don't stick to the mindset and superiority complex of your previous job or business.

Second Camp: 65 to 72 years:

At this age, society slowly moves away from you. Your frequent friends and colleagues will reduce, and hardly anyone will recognize you at your previous workplace. Don't say "I was..." or "I was once..." because the younger generation will not recognize you, and you shouldn't feel bad about it!

Third Camp: 72 to 77 years:

At this camp, the family will slowly move away from you. Even though you may have many children and grandchildren, most of the time you will be living with your partner or alone.

When your children visit occasionally, it is an expression of affection, so don't blame them for visiting less because they are busy with their lives!

And finally, after 77+ years. The earth wants to destroy you. At this time, don't be sad or grieve, because this is the last stage of life, and everyone will eventually follow this path!

So, while our body is still capable, live life to the fullest! Eat, drink, play, and do what you like. Be happy; live happily.

Ajio        SBI Card        Nykaa

This is the fact of life. And it happens with every person. Many friends suggest, after 58 years, form a group of friends and keep meeting occasionally at a fixed place. Recall and share your experiences with each other. Chat and laugh; enjoy the moments. Remember, loneliness makes you older and ill and can kill too. Be happy and spread happiness.

Another way is to pursue a hobby of interest, like travel, reading, writing, or posting a blog, and if creatively inclined, can post vlogs too. Apart from this, seniors could be a part of some charitable institution and spend some time there and help with your experience. Those interested in sharing their experience and knowledge can take up teaching and some quality time with the younger generation.

Anecdote on Kashmir!

I am narrating an interesting anecdote that happened at the United Nations sometime in the late forties or early fifties, and I don't recall the name of the person who gave it back to the Pakistanis.

In UNO, Pakistan raked up the Kashmir issue once again, as they do at every opportunity. There was a special session, and the Pakistan delegation raised the Kashmir issue as usual.

This person from the Indian delegation rose to speak. Addressing all the delegates, he said, Before I speak on the subject, I will tell you a story.

He started. As you might not be aware, Kashmir is named after a great sage, Kashyap. And Kashmir got its name from this great sage. One day many years ago, Sage Kashyap, walking through the jungle, came across a pond with crystal clear water. The sage decided to take a bath and get fresh before meditation.

He took off his sandals and robe, folded it, and kept it below a tree close by. As he entered the pond, a Pakistani came quietly and hurriedly stole the sandal and robe and ran away. Hearing this, a member of the Pakistan delegation jumped up and said, he can’t be a Pakistani. The Indian delegate asked, why not? The Pakistan delegate excitedly said there was no Pakistan then.

Hearing this, he turned to the assembly and said, this is what I wish to tell the world; exactly true; there was no Pakistan then. There was Bharat; that is, India and Kashmir belonged to India even before Pakistan was created. Now, respected members, you decide Kashmir belongs to whom? There was stunning silence, followed by whispers. The Pakistan delegation was outwitted!
