Window dressing or curtains should be planned as per the space available and as per the dimensions of the window. If you want to add character to a room, window dressing plays a major part in achieving this. Take your pick among white hues – from sheer curtains or drapes for an ethereal look. The right balance between light and privacy is an ideal situation. It provides you the privacy, look and light.

When it comes to choosing the right curtains for your space, there are many options of fabrics, finishes, textures, colours and choice of different curtain rods to go with them. Good curtains aren’t cheap either, so it is good to plan and get the right ones for your rooms as they may be expensive to replace if they are not up to the mark or don't go with the decor of the room. Some like to have different curtains for the drawing room and for the bedrooms. while some prefer common curtains for the drawing room and bedrooms.

Different types of curtains –
*Box Pleated curtains give a tailored look and drape deep folds down the full length of the curtain.
*Cased Heading curtains, also known as Rod pocket curtains.
*Pinch Pleated curtain
*Eyelet curtains
*Tailored Pleat curtains
*Goblet Pleat curtains
*Tab Top curtains
*Sheer curtains

Sheer curtains are perfectly suited for Indian homes, given our hot and humid weather. Made of linen, polyester or poly-cotton blend, the lightweight texture allows a subtle inflow of light, yet provides the privacy. These curtains can be paired with thicker drapes to add character to a space. They are highly functional with the ability to filter and diffuse light during the day while retaining privacy. Depending on your privacy, light-control needs and style preferences, a sheer curtain can stand alone or act as a layer under heavier or thicker drapery.

A sheer curtain is the type that allows the most light through the fabric, which also means it offers some privacy. Sheer curtains are also paired with opaque drapes for a more formal look, as well as additional privacy after dark. In some cases, the short sheer curtain that covers only the bottom half of a window over a kitchen platform is also a good option.

A good and right combination of sheer curtain and thicker drapery gives a nice cosy look to the house and the room in particular. Not only it provides privacy but allows controlled light into the room. Now a days you have big choice of design, texture and fabric material to choose from. Either you can get it tailor-made to suit your requirement or have wide choice of ready-made curtains of standard sizes for doors and windows at competitive prices. Most people have a pair of curtains of different shades or design to replace the old curtains or as a change when the earlier curtains are removed for a wash. Now curtains are an essential part of the decor of a house. Some even suggest that the curtains of the house tell a lot about the family, their aptitude, choices and moods.
