ISRO has made India proud,
growing drastically from a very humble beginning, launching small rockets from a
place in Kerala and Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. It has gained in stature and
confidence with the latest technology developed by Indian experts in space
mission. ISRO made history as it launched its 100th indigenous mission
from Sriharikota some time back. And today it ranks on the top along with NASA.
Foreign countries are impressed by India’s launching capabilities. The
successful Chandrayaan, Moon and Mangalyaan, Mars missions have compelled other
countries to launch their satellites from here.
Do you know ISRO’s foreign
exchange earnings rose three times in 2015. Between January 2013 and December
2015, the number of foreign satellites carried into space by Indian Space
Research Organisation rockets has gone up sharply, with a proportionate increase
in revenue earnings from Euro 6.5 million in 2013 to Euro55.5 million in 2015.
Antrix Corporation Limited, the commercial arm of ISRO, has been contracted by
nine countries to launch 28 satellites in space.
Many countries used ISRO to
launch their satellites. Satellites launched between January 2013 to December
2015 are as follows – Denmark 1, France 1, Germany 1, Indonesia 1, Austria 2,
USA 4, Canada 5, Singapore 6 and UK 7.
ISRO’s revenue jumped up sharply
– 2013 with 6 launches made Euro 6.9 million. In 2014 with 5 launches made 18.2
million and in 2015 with 17 launches made Euro 55.5 million. Thereby the total
foreign satellites launched were 28 and the total earnings were Euro 80.6
million.
